Roman Law Resources has been on the internet for twelve years. Since it was established, it has benefited from the support and contributions of many people and institutions.

Technical Support. From 1996 to April 2000 this site was hosted by the University of Aberdeen, which made its webserver and network facilities available. In particular the Senior Computing Adviser, John Thom, as well as providing regular assistance, very kindly wrote a CGI script which helped the site to gather information from users. Although the site no longer uses the script, it was enormously useful while it was used.

The search engine was written for Roman Law Resources by Dave Coventry of Aberdeen, Scotland. It has worked faultlessly since it was installed.

The software for the IusCivile Forum was developed by Kevin W. Paulisse and William F. Polik, of Holland Michigan, for DiscusWare, LLC.

Some of the flags were prepared by Leo Doerr, of Flags by Leo, (c) 1998 by Leo Doerr.

Converting documents to HTML is quite easy, if you don't mind the fact that your converter will almost certainly add large amounts of unnecessary code, and thus prevent you from presenting your documents to your own preference. This is why I was grateful to have found the converter MARTHA by Yves Sagnier: it does the job beautifully and accurately and without adding lots of unnecessary information. I use the converter for the electronic reprints.

Financial Support. This site was intially funded by a grant from the Society of Legal Scholars. Other early funding came from the Centre for the Study of the Civil Law Tradition, University of Aberdeen.

Contributions. The two palingenesiae hosted at this site are reproduced by permission of the author, Tony Honoré, and the Oxford University Press.

The collected corrections to the English translation of Justinian's Digest have received contributions from many scholars, and I give them my thanks. Some of the corrections first appeared in the Cambridge Law Journal, the Stanford Law Review, and the Law Quarterly Review.

Translation. I am grateful to have received the assistance of Rita Meyer-Spasche, Katrin Kruse, Markus Koechling, Regina Jaschke, and Sirko Harder, in maintaining the German-language portion of this site.
